After their “Under Destruction” promo release in 2005, Kaos Krew
was chosen by Guitar9records as artist of the month and after that,
they were more widely noticed in the US, Japan and Europe. This
resulted in a record deal with Top Records and the release of this
“Devour” album. Modern industrial/Nu-Metal is what you can expect of this Finnish Kaos Krew. Although their music is pretty heavy, it also has got some Dance level in it and references to Rammstein or Oomph can be made several times. From start on when you listen to “Trust Me” and “Inflamed”, you can notice the typical Rammstein elements and programming of synths and drums. For a while, “Trust Me” reminds me of “Buch Dich” from the German masters of industrial metal. At the fourth song “Coffin Nails” I can speak of any creativity and input that gives this band their own identity. Also “Fat Change”, filled with Rap elements, is a song with own inputs. The sixth song (and third in a row) “Belly Dancer” persuade me that this band nevertheless has got an own input in their compositions. But also in “Greed”, you can hear things that have been played by other bands before and even “Electrified” is also influenced by Rammstein. But I must say that this Finnish trio has got more guitar solo’s work in their song than I ever noticed in the songs of Rammstein. Nevertheless, this album will be successful it in the alternative cub circuit by several industrial metal fans to move their heads and body; with “Pain” as one of their favourite songs. In "A Visit at Belmonte", I noticed a guitar solo which sounds a bit oriental to me. For “Nuttertools”, I’d like to say that this one is also a song with own influences and originality. For the industrial dance-metal fan who likes Rammstein and Oomph, this could be an album to widen their horizons. |
