The lovers of Krautrock and psychedelic music are going to adore this CD. Karmic Society is a band from Heidelberg, Germany. They use authentic material from the 70s to create their own kind of Krautrock sound. ‘Journey’, their second album, contains mostly instrumental tracks. Besides their own compositions, the CD also contains covers of Can, Quicksilver Messenger Service and The Grateful Dead. What are really noticeable are the authentic instruments and the virtuosic manner in which they are played (especially in the instrumental songs and the self written songs). The sound of the Hammond organ really arouses the nostalgia. The compositions are so strong that you just can’t get enough. The psychedelic guitar solo delights you in the jazzy sounding song “Bee”. It reminds you of Booker T and The MG from back then. The song “After the Flu” reminds you of Jimi Hendrix and Uli Roth. It’s an excellent instrumental ballad that’s played with so many profound feelings that it takes you on a trip back through the 70s. The cover songs at the end of the album will stir up even more memories. Personally, I find the first part of the CD better, but the cover songs are certainly nothing to sneeze at… Karmic Society is an exciting band. If you make convincing instrumental music then it’s because you are technically and musically talented. The original and authentic instruments, including the Hammond organ and the Fender Rhodes, give enormous value to this album. Lovers of the genre know very well… don’t hesitate… order now…
