It turned out to be an excellent decision of Helloween to release a third part of their successful ‘The Keeper Of The Seven Keys’ story in 2005. This double CD was high quality stuff indeed and with this material in their fingers, they embarked for a world tour, one year long. It became one of the most successful periods for the band ever and they immensely enjoyed all the travelling and sightseeing, gigs and contacts with the fans. Of course they have recorded a lot along the way and after their return home; all these recordings were filtered, viewed, fine-tuned and collected for these releases. For themselves and for the fans these are essential documents. In Europe we can purchase the limited combination of 2DVD/2CD, but you also can choose to buy only the double DVD or only the double CD. In this review we shine a light at the double DVD. DVD1 is made up of the best of old and new Helloween songs, filmed in Sao Paulo (Brazil), Sofia (Bulgaria) and Tokyo (Japan). You can watch a number of these songs on more than one location, the so-called alternative version. If you want to look at everything, this DVD is much longer than mentioned. As surplus on DVD (and not on CD) we have a drumsolo and guitarsolo (of Sascha). The recordings have a perfect sound and lightshow. The atmosphere is partying and cheerful, but that will not be a surprise to anyone, since Helloween’s music is often labelled as happy metal. DVD2 contains two more extensive songs live ‘Occasion Avenue’ filmed in Tokyo and ‘Halloween’ filmed during the Masters of Rock festival in Czech Republic. Next to that we can see a three quarters of an hour long roadmovie in which we follow the guys on three continents, featuring the typical Helloween humour. There are interviews with all members and one can find the clips of ‘Mrs. God’ and ‘Light The Universe’ (with Candice Night). This is highly recommended to every Helloween fan and power metal fans in general, because Helloween can be seen as one of the bands that have mostly influenced many bands of today in that genre. |
