Mind Key start in early 1999, combining the sound of prog metal bands like Symphony X, Dream Theater, Elegy, Planet X, Royal Hunt with a more mature and song oriented approach. The band had regular presences in the club-scenes of Naples performing successful live shows and recorded a 4 songs demo entitled “Welcome to Another Reality” (July 2000) which was very well received by the national press (Metal Shock, Flash, Metal Hammer). The band is then picked up by Frontiers Records for the production of the debut album “Journey Of A Rough Diamond” (2004). In this period Mind Key are chosen by Mike Portnoy himself as support act for the Italian ‘Train Of Thought tour’ ; he claims: “These guys sound really excellent!” Meanwhile the “Journey Of A Rough Diamond” gets astonishing reviews, like on the dutch magazine Aardshock, and the Italians Rockhard and Metal Shock, where it is album of the month. The year 2005 sees the band working for some new pieces. At the same point their manager arranges the first leg of their European Tour; including the headline show at the progressive festival ‘night of Progpower Europe’. The tour touches Denmark, Holland, Switzerland and Germany. For these concerts, a new singer Giorgio Adamo - a young guy discovered in a local band, called Stamina - is chosen. The great feedback of the fans during the gigs, convinced the band to sign Giorgio as a permanent member. Mind Key are ready to begin the second leg of the European tour, playing at the Progrock Festival in Warsaw, with bands like Pendragon and Riverside. They also supporting the English prog giants, through other five dates in Poland, Italy, Switzerland and France, including this first DVD recording. This release shows a young talented band with a lot of potential. It’s quite unusual that a band got the opportunity to record a DVD after recording only one studio album but Mind Key did! The DVD is captured on a performance at Wyspianski Theatre, Katowice, Poland, on the 22th May of 2006. Mind Key joins elements of progressive rock, hard rock and heavy metal, with lots of catchy melodies, beautiful instrumental passages and solo’s. The arrangement of the songs are tight, sophisticated and have a lot of power. Although new singer Giorgio Adamo is only 21 years old and isn’t that experienced, he gives the best out of himself. This guy has got it’s talents I suppose and has the opportunity to grow together with a young well talented band. The DVD also include some bootleg footage from concerts in Caserta, Warsaw and Marseille. The Caserta bootleg features the session vocalist Elio Fierro in a cover version of Deep Purple's "Stormbringer"! Also an interview with Dario and Emanuele, the band biography, discography, photo gallery, art gallery etc. is included on this classic collector's DVD. DVD recommended especially for fans of Dream Theater, Symphony X or Shadow Gallery who also like to see and hear to some upcoming talented bands.
