In Flames ready for release new album
IN FLAMES and Century Media Records will release the 1st digital single "Deliver Us"
on the following date: Monday May 9, 2011.
It'll be the 1st taste of their upcoming album "Sounds Of A Playground Fading".
On the past Saturday IN FLAMES won their seventh Bandit Rock (Sweden's biggest radio station for rock music) Award in the category "Best Swedish Live act"

IN FLAMES were founded 1990 in Gothenburg and soon became one of the most successful Swedish Metal bands since the release of their break-through album "The Jester Race" in 1996. Like many of the predecessors, their last album "A Sense Of Purpose" (2008) charted all over the world including the band¹s highest ever entry on the American Billboard top 200 with an amazing #28. Other notable chart entries: Sweden #1, European Billboard top 100 #7, Canada Billboard top 200 # 7, Germany #6, UK (top 200) #54, Finland #3, Japan #14, and Norway # 17.
"A Sense Of Purpose" was at the time of release the 7th most sold album in the whole of Europe.
In September 2010 IN FLAMES once again entered their own IF Studios together with Roberto Laghi,
Daniel Bergstrand and Örjan Örnkloo to start the recording of the new album.
The album "Sounds Of A Playground Fading"
will be out on Monday June 20, 2011.

News Tides From Nebula
Op 2 mei verschijnt bij Mystic Production/Suburban het nieuwe album "Earthshine" van de Poolse post-rock band TIDES FROM NEBULA. De band heeft de afgelopen jaren intensief door Europa getourd en speelde met o.a. Oceansize, This Will Destroy You, Ulver, Shrinebuilder, Pure Reason Revolution en God Is An Astronaut.

EDGUY ARE IN THE STUDIO TO RECORD A NEW ALBUM
After a successful world tour with more than 100 concerts all over the globe in support of their latest release "Tinnitus Sanctus" in 2008, Edguy have entered the studio to record a new album. Still under the influence of their arena tour as special guests of "the Scorpions" and the latest "Avantasia" world tour (featuring Tobias Sammet and Felix Bohnke), Edguy feel it's about time to squeeze their energy on tape in a recording studio again. This time the band has chosen the famous Peppermint-Park in Hannover (Scorpions, Phil Collins), according to the band " a recording temple with a tremendously great sounding room". Tobias comments:
"We have chosen the Peppermint Park to record the basics there. I had done a few little bits and pieces for Avantasia there, but it's so great to record drums and stuff like Hammond B3 with a big bad fat mean Leslie there. The room is big and the sound is mean! We were always striving for a powerful but natural sound. I guess we had a good sound recently, but I think there is always room to improve. The more I listen to what's going on in the Heavy Metal world these days, the more I long for drums that sound like drums. I want them to sound powerful without sounding like Atari. Sascha and I came to the conclusion that we have to start from scratch and do things the way they have to be done, not the fashionable way. I don't want a distorted master-copy, just so it is loud enough on an iPhone or on PC-speakers. If you talk to your most fancy producer he will say something like: "Well, it's the sign of the times, you have to be able to compete in the loudness war..." What the fuck?! If I want it to be loud I turn up the stereo. I want dynamics, room, a real big sound, not that distorted trendy compression. Why don't we all move back a little and record great sounding music, not loud sounding music? Do a Google search for "loudness war" and you'll see what I mean. Whatever, the new songs sound great, we have thirteen of them, and we'll pick maybe ten and put them on the album. We have anthemic melodies, although it's not kitsch. When you record anthemic music, you tend to be dangerously close to kitsch, it's a fine line and I think we balance on that fine line pretty well. To cut a long story a little insignificantly shorter: I just think it is great, and that's what counts. Real music, you know? We'll keep you informed, if you want it or not! ;-)“

our kult sublabel code666 will soon re-release the long time sold out album “Awaken” from Nordvargr in a new, revamped edition, strictly limited to 500 copies. commented Mr. Nordvargr: ” Right now I am finishing the mixing of the re-issue of the “Nordvargr debut album” Awaken. This is a very important album to me, not only because it was the first solorecordings I did under my own namne, but also because I recorded them during very hard personal times. It was recorded during the summer of 2002, and I was recording this music at night instead of sleeping. I recently realised that I did not use a lot of the materials I recorded before I started to actually compose the album. Many weeks were spent doing fieldrecordings, and many hours of DAT tapes were recorded… but never used. So now I have used these old recordings again to create new soundscapes in the same vein as the original album. I have also remastered and re-edited the old masters to sound better than before – I have always disliked the final mix of Awaken, but no more… it is now finally coming together as it was intended. Add some 20+ minutes of new material made from the same sources as the original recordings and you have an album that is sure to disturb your sleep. Again.”

In deep sadness and regret we announce that Andrea “Mario” Baldi, our drummer and life-long friend, has decided to leave the band. Andrea’s role in the band all these years has been vital in every aspect – musical, professional, personal. Andrea has chosen to try new adventures and face new work challenges, which makes it impossible for him to follow the RAIN as would be necessary, but we can assure you that we will carry on with the same willingness and commitment that have made us grow in the 30 years of our career. All of us, from the management to the crew, wish the best for Andrea from the deep of our hearts and hope he will find the happiness and serenity that he deserves. We will miss him… Here follows the letter he has written for us, his friends and his fans:
“As some of you already know, in April 2011 my twenty-year-old collaboration with the Rain comes to an end. This decision is not due to a falling-off of enthusiasm and passion for the music that I do, but to work choices that will no longer allow me to give the band the time and attention it needs. It will not be easy to do without all the things that have filled my life since 1993 – memorable concerts, endless rehearsals, parties with the Rain crew, the loss of so many hours of sleep, the thousands of kilometers on the road, unforgettable tours, travelling all over Italy, then Europe and at last the USA dream come true. A heartful “thanks” to all those whose precious help has made all that possible; thanks to the many fans, always present and loving. Thanks again to the whole band, and particularly to Gino, Amos, Ise, Edo, Piera and Benny, with all of whom I shared so many intense and amusing moments and also difficult experiences which we always overcame brilliantly.Folks, I’m sure your fighting spirit will bring great results. I wish you good luck for the future of the band. A big hug, hope to see you somewhere , R’n’R!!! – Andrea (Mario) Baldi”
In the meantime, the entry of Emilio “Dave” Simeone , the new drummer, has become official. Eldritch and DeathSS are only two of the groups he has played with and on a few occasions he replaced Andrea in live concerts. This choice will help the band keep its high professional level and friendly atmosphere. This is the new line-up that will mark the band’s new work. To celebrate its 30th anniversary, RAIN will present old pieces in a renovated form; they will be produced in both cd and vinyl and will be released in October. This is the line-up that will set the audience on fire, starting on April 15 at Bologna “Sottotetto” supporting Rage. So RAIN is on a new deal that brings them, after 30 years, not only to ward off the thought of the end but indeed to say … THIS IS ONLY THE BEGINNING!

ETHEREAL bevestigd voor FortaRock pre-party
Op vrijdag 1 juli, de avond voorafgaand aan het FortaRock festival is er wederom een pre-party in Doornroosje in Nijmegen. Dit jaar met 2 toppers van eigen bodem: Pestilence (was al bevestigd) en nu ook ETHEREAL. De band won in 2010 de Grote Prijs van Nederland (rock/alternative). CHANNEL ZERO
Begin jaren negentig maakte Channel Zero furore met de platen "Stigmatized For Life", "Unsafe" en "Black Fuel". De band behoorde tot de rijke lichting ‘crossover’ metal bands die boven kwamen drijven na de periode van de thrash- en death metal eind jaren tachtig/begin negentig. Krachtige metal met zware gitaren, ruige vocalen invloeden uit verschillende genres en een volle, zeer volle productie die stond als een huis waren de kenmerken van deze lichting. Prong, Helmet, Machine Head, Grip Inc., Pitchshifter, Biohazard en Life Of Agony, allemaal voorbeelden die meerdere genres laten overlappen in hun sound. Zo ook bij Channel Zero. Het thrashgeluid dat nog te horen was op het titelloze debuut maakte al snel plaats voor een rijkere en diepere metalsound. Het leverde de band tours op met o.a. Biohazard, Napalm Death en Obituary en Life Of Agony.
In augustus 1997 was het over voor Channel Zero, maar dat de populariteit is gebleven in al die jaren bewees de band door vorig jaar maar liefst 6x de AB in Brussel uit te verkopen, hetgeen een record is! Channel Zero kwam, zag en overwon. Ruim 12.000 mensen zagen een band in blakende vorm die een knetterharde show weggaven. De band is nog steeds het allerbeste is wat België ooit heeft voortgebracht op metalgebied. Roadrunner brengt dit jaar een nieuwe plaat uit, en de eerste luistersessies beloven veel goeds!
