GHOST BRIGADE RE-SIGN WITH SEASON OF MIST - ANNOUNCE NEW MEMBERS
Season of Mist is thrilled to announce that GHOST BRIGADE are staying in the Season of Mist family, after already releasing three brilliant albums of melodic doomcore culminating with 2011’s "Until Fear No Longer Defines Us."

Comments guitarist Wille Naukkarinen on behalf of GHOST BRIGADE, "I remember when we first signed to Season of Mist some six years go, it felt a bit like stepping into the unknown. We knew the label, we had a good feeling about it but then again, we had no background in working with them so you never know how things will turn out. Luckily everything went fine and three albums later, it's safe to say we made the right decision.

“So when it was time to start thinking about the future of Ghost Brigade, re-signing with SOM not only felt natural but also was our number one choice. We were fortunate to be in a situation where we could've chosen the label we want to work with but why fix something that isn't broken? We wanted to continue working with people who believe in this band and with people who we today consider as friends. It's hard to top that.

“Right now we are working on new material for the next album and I don't know, somehow all this feels like a new beginning. Everyone's super motivated and we are rehearsing more actively than ever before. And the fact that new songs are sounding great, doesn't make things any worse.

“Oh and while I'm writing this, I would also like to take this opportunity to introduce two new ghosts. We figured two Jonis would be better than one so first off, we have Joni Saalamo on bass. Secondly, we FINALLY have a permanent keyboard player in the band, Joni Vanhanen. 2013 will be a good year."

“Of all the bands we signed, Ghost Brigade holds a special place”, Season of Mist CEO Michael Berberian adds. “We had our share of successes the last few years with the label, sure. Bands with underground credibility, already with a CD out or two, and we took them to the next level. That’s what we do – or at least we try!

“We took Ghost Brigade out of the demo pile. That’s the equivalent of Mordor – a dark place where we don’t usually go unless we really have to. After listening to a punishing amount of “1st guitar lesson” bands and a few hundred copycats of whoever is popular at the moment in the US, you sometimes stumble upon a jewel. Of course, this is as rare as finding a $100 bill on the street. You heard it is possible, but it never happened to you.

“When I heard Ghost Brigade my jaw dropped. This was exceptional. The artwork, the originality and the sensibility all blew me away. We had to sign them, but then came the challenging part: making people agree with us! The band has worked tremendously hard and we have worked hard and Ghost Brigade has achieved critical and public acclaim and is on the edge of moving to the big circles. I am even prouder that we were able to do it with Ghost Brigade insofar as they are hardworking and decent human beings. We are extremely happy to keep them trapped at SOM a while longer!”

Currently, Ghost Brigade are tentatively scheduled to enter the studio later this year to record their next full-length on Season of Mist.

ODD DIMENSION: New album ‘The Last Embrace To Humanity’

Odd Dimension have announced the release of their new album ‘The Last Embrace To Humanity’, the follow-up to their critically acclaimed debut release ‘Symmetrical’ (2011). The album sets new standards for the band, elevating their sound to a more mature level and recalling atmospheres by the classic Rock masters without losing the impact of their trademark Progressive approach. Lyrically, ‘The Last Embrace To Humanity’ is structured around an ambitious concept about the alienation of mankind, in an era in which everything tends to be severely damaged or even destroyed in the name of progress. A very special guest appearance by renowned singer Michele Luppi (Vision Divine, Secret Sphere, Thaurorod) in the song ‘It’s So Late’ has also been announced. The album has been recorded at Domination Studios in San Marino, Italy Odd Studios, Italy and MiLu’s Rock Lab II, Italy, between September and December 2012, mixed by Marco Barusso (Lacuna Coil, H.I.M.) and mastered by Alberto Cutolo at Massive Art Studios in Milan, Italy. The evocative artwork was handled by Carl Glover (Porcupine Tree) at Aleph Studio in London, UK. ‘The Last Embrace To Humanity’ will be released March 26th, 2013 on Scarlet Records. NE OBLIVISCARIS signs to Season of Mist

Season of Mist is proud to announce the signing of Australian progressive extreme metal outfit NE OBLIVISCARIS.

Melbourne's NE OBLIVISCARIS stand on their own by infusing their metal with western art music, jazz, and flamenco. With adventurous, progressive and nuanced compositions often exceeding ten minutes in length, NE OBLIVISCARIS is a band with profound depth and a musical proficiency at the highest levels.

With their first demo 'The Aurora Veil' in 2007, NE OBLIVISCARIS garnered significant word-of-mouth within the metal underground. In 2012, their self released debut album, 'Portal of I' showcased their unique array of influences and dynamic songwriting, and sent shock waves through the metal underground once again. Met with even more praise, 'Portal of I' made numerous "Best of 2012" lists.

'Portal of I' can be previewed via the NE OBLIVISCARIS BandCamp page.

Regarding the signing, the band released the following statement: "For us as a band, signing to Season of Mist, one of the best independent metal labels in the world, a label that's roster includes some of our all time favorite bands and influences, is quite surreal. We worked for many years to get our debut album 'Portal Of I' out there for the world to hear and for it's reception to have been so overwhelmingly positive, and for a label like this to not only love our music, but believe we can go places in the worldwide metal scene is incredible. It is one of those things that just gives us even more motivation to keep composing and performing and trying to take NE OBLIVISCARIS as far as we can to as many people across the world as possible."

NE OBLIVISCARIS have toured their native Australia alongside SOILWORK, SUFFOCATION, PSYCROPTIC and more. The band has played several revered festivals like Prog Power, Bloodline and Sonic Forge.

The band is currently in the middle of writing their Season of Mist debut with plans to record late 2013.

NE OBLIVISCARIS is Benjamin Baret - Lead Guitar, Matt Klavins - Guitar, Brendan "Cygnus" Brown - Bass, Dan Prestland - Drums, Tim Charles -Violin and Vocals, Xenoyr - Vocals.

GAMMA RAY to release “Master Of Confusion” on March 18th, 2013

‘Master Of Confusion’ and ‘Empire Of The Undead’ are the first two new studio songs by Gamma Ray to be released after the successful studio album “To The Metal!” which brought Gamma Ray at the highest positions in the charts worldwide.

“We have been away for quite some time”, declared guitarist and founding member Kai Hansen.
“We have released what we consider a very beautiful live product, ‘Live – Skeletons & Majesties’, but we felt it was time to release some new music by the Rayz…
Yes, we planned to have an album ready by now but deadlines are not our best friends. No, seriously, although we have already started working on the new album, we did not want to wait any longer and thought we should let the fans listen to these two new songs before the world tour with Helloween. We have also recorded cover versions of two songs we have always loved and… before anybody could say that a CD can feature more minutes of music… we are also releasing the live material recorded for the ‘Skeletons’ Blu-ray that could not be included on the live CD.
OK, it’s not a new album. But its 60 minutes of music… call it the longest single in metal, if you like!”

With its 60 minutes of pure and raw Gamma Ray, “Master Of Confusion” is a great way to wait for the new album, scheduled for the end of 2013. Coinciding with the start of the “Hellish Rock, Part II” tour, “Master Of Confusion” will be released on March 18th, 2013 via earMUSIC/V2. Gamma Ray always takes its music and the relationship with their fans very seriously, and the band wanted this release to be priced as a mid-price mini-album.

Kai & Co are not afraid to celebrate their peculiarity with humour and irony. Reading the lyrics of the song ‘Master Of Confusion’ not too many clarifications are necessary…
Gamma Ray are indeed the masters of confusion, a trait all the fans and also the music industry had no option than to accept and appreciate. They bring chaos to other people’s lives, they miss important deadlines, they reschedule the release of the desperately awaited new long player, but they never miss a show, they never let a fan down, and in a world of calculated and career-driven rock stars, they are among the few remaining honest true heavy metal heroes.
Excerpt of ‘Master Of Confusion’:

No matter where I'm going
And anywhere I roam
I am the master of confusion
Maybe you'll see me coming
Or maybe I just don't
I am the master of… confusion
The label’s calling, boys are you done?
The deadlines past, time to deliver
I am so sorry, we're running late
Some unexpected ghost in the machinery
[…]
Whenever I am closing in
Your peaceful life goes in the bin
Let chaos begin

In addition to the brand new studio song, “Master Of Confusion” features a second new studio track: ‘Empire Of The Undead’, showing the heavier side of the band, with an explosion of energy and pure Gamma Ray sound at its best. The release is not free from tasty rarities: a brand new studio cover versions of British Glam Rock band Sweet (‘Lost Angels’ - “the reason I have joined a band many years ago”, stated Hansen) and a hidden treasure of NWOBHM (‘Death Or Glory’ by Holocaust).

“Master Of Confusion” is rounded off with six live versions (‘The Spirit,’ ‘Wings Of Destiny,’ ‘Farewell,’ ‘Gamma Ray,’ ‘Time To Break Free’ and ‘Insurrection’ recorded in Bochum) that were already included on the Blu-ray “Live – Skeletons & Majesties” but were not featured on the CD release (which included the show recorded in Pratteln).
