EDEN'S CURSE: Trinity

There are so many Melodic Metal bands around, a band needs some special features to stand out from the metalcrowd. The first necessity is of course to play top notch music performed by top notch musicians. You need speedy and emotional solo’s from guitar and keyboard players; the drummer and bass player must form a steady, trustworthy rhythm section. You also need a vocalist with a special voice, that sounds perfect but recognizable.
Good compositions are also very important. The majority of tracks should be heavy and speedy, but the necessary ballad or ballads can’t be omitted.
It’s also important to invite some well known guest musicians to attract the attention of the potential buyers.
All these features apply for Eden’s Curse, a German Melodic Metal band.
The skills of the musicians are undeniable. The speed of the guitars and keys are high when necessary and the rhythm section is all right.
Michael Eden has the perfect voice for this music and he has a very recognizable voice. It’s a bit peculiar, but I got used to it and quite like it now.
Although they are full of cliché’s, the compositions are great, with the occasional ballads. (“Guardian Angel†and “Children of the Tideâ€). “Children of the Tide†has an undeniable Scorpions sound.
James LaBrie (Dream Theater) on “No Holy Man†and Andi Deris (Helloween) on “Black Widow†are names that should sound a bell with the listeners.
So Eden’s Curse certainly passed the Melodic Metal test, now there’s only an audience to convince!!!

Er zijn zo veel Melodic Metal groepen, dat een groep enkele bijzondere kenmerken nodig heeft om zich te onderscheiden van de metalcrowd. De eerste noodzaak is natuurlijk top notch muziek uitgevoerd door top notch muzikanten. Je hebt snelle en emotionele solo's van gitaar en keyboard nodig. De drummer en bassist moeten een constante, betrouwbare ritmesectie vormen. Je moet ook een zanger hebben met een bijzondere stem, die perfect maar herkenbaar klinkt..
Goede composities zijn ook erg belangrijk. Het merendeel van de nummers moet hevig en snel zijn, maar de nodige ballads kunnen niet weggelaten worden.
Het is ook belangrijk om een aantal bekende gastmuzikanten uit te nodigen om de aandacht van de potentiële kopers te trekken.
Al deze functies zijn van toepassing op Eden's Curse, een Duitse Melodic Metal band.
De vaardigheden van de muzikanten zijn onmiskenbaar. De snelheid van de gitaren en toetsen zijn hoog wanneer nodig en de ritmesectie is goed en betrouwbaar.
Michael Eden heeft de perfecte stem voor deze muziek. Zijn stem is daarenboven erg herkenbaar. Het is even wennen, maar na een tijdje klinkt het prachtig.
Hoewel vol cliche's, zijn de composities geweldig, met af en toe een ballad. ("Guardian Angel" en "Children of the Tide"). Het laatste klinkt iets teveel als een Scorpions ballad..

Dus Eden's Curse is meer dan geslaagd voor de Melodic Metal test, nu moeten ze enkel nog het publiek overtuigen!!!
