EVIDENCE ONE: The Sky Is The Limit

‘The Sky is the Limit’ is the third album from Evidence One. These guys are no longer novices and that becomes obvious starting with the very first song. They have made some traditional heavy metal songs that are both melodic and built on solid foundations. The members of Evidence One aren’t completely unknown. The singer Carsten ‘Lizard’ Schulz is an ex- member of Domain and guitarist Robby Boebel used to play for Frontline. On this album, Robby concentrates on the production and replaces himself by guitarist Jog ‘Warty’ Wartman. It seems to have been a good choice.
Evidence One first gained recognition with their debut album and some of the good songs that it contained. So it was no surprise that they landed a spot in the line up at some mega music festivals, such as Earthshaker Fest and Wacken Open Air Festival in 2003. They played some concerts in 2005 with the Scorpions, Axel Rudi Pell and Krokus. After having played at the Earthshaker Fest once again, they were then offered the opportunity to tour with Alice Cooper. Their live performances, together with this album, ‘The Sky is the Limit’, put them on the right path. Evidence One continues to grow and tries to maintain its position in the metal world.

‘The Sky Is The Limit’ is het derde album van Evidence One. De jongens zijn dus niet aan hun proefstuk toe. Meteen vanaf het eerste nummer wordt dit dan ook bewezen. Zeer uit de kluiten gewassen traditionele heavy metal met sterk onderbouwde, melodieuze songs. De mannen van Evidence One zijn geen totaal onbekenden in het milieu. Ex-Domain zanger Carsten “Lizard†Schulz en gitarist Robby Boebel (Frontline) houden het geheel zeer strak in de hand. Op dit album spits Robby zich echter toe op de productie en laat zich dan ook als gitarist vervangen door Jörg “Warty†Wartman. Op zich lijkt die keuze zeker geen afbreuk aan het geheel te hebben gedaan.
Door hun debuut dat enkele goede songs bevatte werden zij opgemerkt. Zo was het niet te verwonderen dat ze hun plaatsje verdienden op enkele megafestivals zoals Earthshaker Fest en Wacken Open Air in 2003. Nadat ze in 2005 wat concerten konden afwerken met de Scorpions, Axel Rudi Pell & Krokus kregen ze, na opnieuw op het Earthshaker Fest te hebben opgetreden, de kans om met niemand minder dan Alice Cooper te toeren. Samen met hun live reputatie is deze ‘The Sky Is The Limit’ weer een stap in de goede richting. Evidence One is gegroeid en probeert zijn plaats binnen het metal gebeuren te vrijwaren.
