IRON LAMB: Fool's Gold
English:
From the very first notes on, it is crystal clear that this Swedish quintet puts on display their admiration for early Motörhead. Not only they managed to reproduce their characteristic sound, the voice of singer Daniel lies very close to the one of old Lemmy and the three first songs are composed in a way you can easily think you’re spinning a Motörhead record. After that, the drive lessens, the sound is less tight, but still stays fine hard rock ’n roll with punk attitude. The title track, closing the album, is again a worthy Motörhead clone, but a slower one … without belittling undertone, I might add. Exception on the general rule is ‘Leave Me Be’, which is sung in an dull declamatory way by guest Rob Coffinshaker, it seems to be a lost gothic rock parody with peculiar lyrics (e.g. ‘the tables are turning as your uterus is yearning’ ).
Old school hard rockers, particularly Motörhead fans, should definitely check this one out.

Vanaf de allereerste noten is het zo klaar als een klontje dat dit Zweeds vijftal hun voorliefde voor de prille Motörhead niet onder stoelen of banken steekt. Niet enkel hebben ze hun karakteristieke geluid weten over te nemen, de stem zanger Daniel heeft verdomd veel weg van die van ouwe Lemmy en de drie eerste nummers zijn dermate opgebouwd dat je je in een Motörhead album waant. Daarna is de drive wat minder, het klinkt minder snedig, maar het blijft nog steeds lekkere hard rock ’n roll met wat punk venijn in de staart. Het titelnummer, dat het album afsluit, is nog eens een waardige Motörhead kloon, maar dan een trage … zonder pejoratieve bijklank, kwestie van duidelijk te zijn. Uitzondering op de algemene regel is ‘Leave Me Be’, dat, lijzig, bijna parlando gezongen door gast Rob Coffinshaker, wel iets heeft van een verdwaalde gothrock parodie met merkwaardige tekst (vb. ‘the tables are turning as your uterus is yearning’ ).
Old school hardrockers, in het bijzonder Motörhead fans, moeten deze band zeker een kans geven.
