AIRSTREAM: Kingdom Of Isolation

This album by Swedish band Airstream sounds surprisingly fresh in a genre that has been explored to the bone. The Swedish really know to add that extra touch that is needed to avoid the so often encountered déjà vu effect. Not that this is totally original, but there’s enough variation in the songs and in the arrangements to make this an interesting listening experience. Singer/producer Staffen Karlsson does a very good job and to add to the excitement there’s a blistering solo by ex-Europe guitarist Kee Marchello on ‘You Had The World In Your Hands’.

Deze cd van het Zweedse Airstream klinkt verrassend fris in een genre dat al behoorlijk is uitgemolken. De Zweden weten hoe ze die extra toets moeten aanbrengen om het déjà vu effect te vermijden. Niet dat we hier met een compleet originele band te maken hebben, maar de songs en de arrangementen zijn voldoende gevarieerd om hier een interessante luisterervaring van te maken. Zanger/producer Staffen Karlsson heeft goed werk geleverd en om de zaak extra te kruiden krijgen we in het nummer ‘You Had The World In Your Hands’ nog een vlammende solo van ex-Europe gitarist Kee Marcello.
