IMPERA: Empire Of Sin

Impera is named after drummer J.K. Impera who is the captain of this Swedish supergroup with two melodic rock icons in the line-up with singer Matt Alfonzetti and guitarist Tommy Denander. Denander has literally played on hundreds of sessions and records but has always some band along the line in which he can develop his creativity. All the songs (except for ‘Thunder In Your Heart’) on this third Impera effort were written by Denander/Alfonzetti/Kihlberg. Johan Kihlberg is the producer of the record that sounds like a rock. Needless to say that Alfonzetti is a great singer and the guitars of Tommy Denander are all over the place. This is a great fusion of AOR and hard rock. Melodic rock with balls with everything in the right balance.

Impera ontleent zijn naam aan drummer J.K. Impera, die de kapitein van deze Zweedse supergroep is. De groep telt twee melodieuze rock iconen met zanger Matt Alfonzetti en gitarist Tommy Denander. Denander heeft letterlijk op honderden sessies en platen gespeeld, maar heeft ook nog altijd een of andere band achter de hand waarin hij zijn creativiteit kwijt kan. Met uitzondering van ‘Thunder In Your Heart’ werden alle nummers geschreven door het trio Denander/Alfonzetti/Kihlberg. Johan Kihlberg is de producer van deze plaat die staat als een huis. Onnodig te vermelden dat Alfonzetti een schitterende zanger is en de gitaren van Denander zijn alomtegenwoordig. Dit is een knappe fusie tussen AOR en hardrock. Dit is melodieuze rock met ballen waarbij alles in de juiste balans zit.
