This humble servant has launched the label ‘Swiss groove’ as the typical style of many Swiss hard rock bands and this band equally qualifies for that label. Their bluesy and groovy hard rock is very digestive and is very well produced. They manage to project an energetic and heavy feel without sounding earsplitting or irritating after a while. This is a hard rock album that you can play in the background and still retain that powerful feeling. The history of this band goes back to 1993 when Pascal Zwyssig joined and he is until now the longest serving member in the band. The current line-up has been together since 2009 and ‘Pain & Gain’ is their third full album. Singer Peter Hochulli had a deep bluesy rock voice and has a good sense of melody. The guitar playing is also wonderful and the rhythm section combines rock and groove very well. Although not the most original, this is a very entertaining heavy rock band with good melodies and the rhythm to keep you moving.

Uw dienaar is de bedenker van de term ‘Swiss groove’ als de typische stijl van menig Zwitserse hardrock band. Charing Cross past zeker in die club. Hun bluesy en groove hardrock is zeer verteerbaar en is voorzien van een prima productie. Ze slagen erin om een energieke en heavy sound te produceren, zonder dat ze daarvoor oorsplijtend en op termijn irritant worden. Je kan dit album gerust op de achtergrond beluisteren en toch de kracht in hun muziek blijven voelen. De geschiedenis van deze band gaat terug tot 1993 als Pascal Zwyssig de band vervoegt. Hij is meteen ook het langst dienende lid. De huidige bezetting is al samen sinds 2009 en ‘Pain And Gain’ is hun derde full cd. Peter Hochulli heeft een diepe bluesy stem en heeft veel zin voor melodie. Het gitaarspel is prachtig en de ritmesectie weet rock en groove mooi te combineren. Alhoewel niet origineel, is dit een zeer onderhoudende heavy rock band met goede melodieën en het juiste ritme om je in beweging te houden.
