This band was big between 1984 and 1994. Their hometown is Brussels, but they were more successful abroad than in Belgium. British icon John Peel played their music and they got good reviews, even from the often cynical British press. Their raw metal rock-’n’-roll is influenced by The Birthday Party, The Stooges and Mötörhead. Since 1994 there were a couple of occasional releases, but nothing substantial until now. The band regrouped in 2015 and took a new start. They played the prestigious AB in Brussels and recorded the set for a double live vinyl LP. This is not music for sensible souls. Their rock music is raw, hard and full of rage with scraping guitars and grunting vocals. The rhythm section sounds like a bunch of elephants on the loose. La Muerte still sounds authentic and they play with passion and belief in their art. This is a piece of Belgian metallic rock-’n’-roll that comes to life again. They didn’t lose their craft nor their ambition and they still sound relevant. They have already a lot of dates planned for 2016 and they are booked for GMM, one of the biggest metal festivals in Europe.

Tussen 1984 en 1994 speelde La Muerte een indrukwekkende discografie bij elkaar die bol stond van harde en rauwe rock beïnvloed door The Stooges, Motorhead en extreme metalstijlen. Alhoewel er nog wel een occasionele release verscheen werd de draad pas opnieuw in 2015 opgepakt en gaf de groep een denderend concert in de Brusselse AB dat meteen werd vereeuwigd in een vlijmscherpe live opname. Dat de groep nog steeds het vuur heeft bewijst deze plaat die vooral op dubbele vinyl een echt hebbeding is. Geen muziek voor gevoelige zielen, maar wel ziedende rockmuziek, schrapende gitaren, gruntende vocalen, dreigende klanken en een ritmesectie die soms klinkt als een horde ontketende olifanten. De groep gooide destijds hoge ogen in het buitenland en deze comeback maakt duidelijk waarom. Ze klinken authentiek en puur en zijn ontdaan van alle franjes. Ze braken hun surrealistische metalen klanken uit over hun publiek en doen dat duidelijk met passie en overtuiging. Een stuk Belgische (hard)rock historie die terug tot leven komt en nog verrassend actueel klinkt. Voor 2016 staan er alweer een reeks optredens gepland met als apotheose GMM! Op dubbel lp en als download verkrijgbaar.
