Even without any introduction to this band it was very clear that this is an Asian band. They play this typical fast and furious pop metal that is becoming the signature sound of Japanese metal. Except for the last song which is a Japanese version of ‘Raise The Sun’ , they sing in English and on ‘Stand Alone’ they get help from Amanda Sommerville for the lyrics and Oliver Hartmann is present as a guest singer. That song is also a little different form the rest of the album. It has this typical Germanic style of classic heavy metal.
Lightning surely play well, there are some blistering guitar solos and the band plays very tight. The songs are fast but well constructed and they stand the test even at a lower volume. Even on this rainy Sunday morning, we dig their songs and the flow of the album. This turns out to be a compilation of the best tracks of their four Japanese releases. It’s not clear if the songs were re-recorded or not. ‘Stand Alone’ is a track that is only on this European release. They also played a successful set at a Japanese music convention in Paris in 2014.

Zelfs zonder enige informatie wisten we al dat we met een band uit Azië te maken hadden. Ze spelen die typisch snelle en razende pop metal die stilaan het handelsmerk wordt van die regio. Met uitzondering van het laatste nummer, dat een Japanse versie is van ‘Rise The Sun’, zingt de groep in het Engels. Voor ‘Stand Alone’ kregen ze zelfs hulp van Amanda Sommerville voor de tekst en treedt Oliver Hartmann aan als gastzanger. Het nummer is dan ook qua stijl meer typisch Germaanse klassieke heavy metal.
Lightning speelt super strak en er komen een aantal ziedende gitaarsolo’s voorbij. De nummers zijn snel, maar blijven perfect overeind op een lager volume. Zelfs op de regenachtige zondagmorgen waarop we dit schijfje beluisteren, kan het ons bekoren. We houden van de flow die in deze plaat zit. In feite is dit een compilatie van hun vier Japanse cd’s. Of de nummers opnieuw werden opgenomen is niet duidelijk. ‘Stand Alone’ is wel een exclusief nummer voor deze Europese release. Deze band speelde al in Parijs op een Japanse muziekconventie.
