Autograph was one of the great melodic rock bands of the eighties and their last effort with guitarist Steve Lynch dates from the famous 1987 ‘Loud And Clear album (not counting an archive release in 1997). In 2011 Steve met bass player Randy Rand again at the NAMM show in Anaheim and they rekindled their friendship. They started jamming and asked another founding member Steve Plunkett (who made one other album as ‘Autograph’ in 2003) for a real reunion. Plunkett declined but gave them the blessing to go on with their plans to revive the band. Plunkett’s position was filled by singer/guitarist Simon Daniels (of Jailhouse), Marc Wieland became the new drummer and on they went! In 2014 they were successfully touring again and some digital singles were released. Now we listen to their new music on a physical format with this self-released ep ‘Louder’ with four new studio songs and a live recording of the classic ‘Turn Up The radio’ by the new line-up. Opener ‘You Are Us, We Are You’ is just another classic! The great feel of the band is still there: four great powerful new songs with great choruses and a top performance of the band. Autograph is back and they fly high again! Can’t wait for a new album and please bring them over for the summer festivals! The EP is available through their website.

Autograph was in de jaren tachtig een van de grote namen in de melodieuze rock. Hun laatste plaat met gitarist Steven Lynch ‘Loud And Clear’ dateert echter al van 1987. Dan tellen we de archief release ‘Missing Pieces’ even niet mee). Steve Plunkett maakte wel nog een Autograph plaat in 2003, maar dat was zonder de anderen. In 2011 ontmoette oprichter Steve Lynch bassist Randy Rand op de NAMM in Anaheim, ze verzegelden opnieuw hun vriendschap en besloten om samen wat te jammen. Ze vroegen Steve Plunkett om mee te doen, maar die had het te druk met andere zaken. Hij geeft hen wel de zegen om Autograph nieuw leven in te blazen. De plaats van Plunkett wordt ingenomen door zanger/gitarist Simon Daniels (van Jailhouse) en Marc Wieland wordt de nieuwe drummer. In 2014 is de groep opnieuw succesvol aan het toeren en ze nemen ook enkele nummers op die ze digitaal verspreiden. Nu is er toch een fysiek formaat met deze ep ‘Louder’: vier nieuwe krachtige nieuwe songs met knappe refreinen en een topuitvoering door de band. Openingsnummer ‘You Are Us, We Are You’ is gewoon een potentiële klassieker! Als bonus is er ook nog een recente live opname van de klassieker ‘Turn Up The Radio’. Autograph is terug en ze blazen weer op volle kracht! Dat ze nu maar vlug een nieuw album opnemen en naar Europa komen voor de zomerfestivals! De ep is te koop via hun website.
