The harsh rock of La Muerte was put back on the map with a bang! Their comeback show at the legendary Belgian AB in Brussels showed that the band are still a force to reckon with. The double lp ‘Evil’ which is a recording of that show is the ultimate proof. The band has now recorded three new songs that are pressed on clear or red vinyl on a one sided 12†record (with download code). So the B-side will be forever silent, but that is certainly not the case with the A-side! The record bursts out with a thrilling ‘Whark This Guy’ which is followed by the equal threatening and dark ‘Je Suis Le Destructeur’. This band knows nevertheless to play their pieces with a fascinating groove that even converts the non-believers. The side closes with ‘Get Whipped’ and that’s also the longest track. Drilling guitars, a doomy rhythm and an equal doomy atmosphere are the keywords here. We call it avant-garde metal. This band is top!

De confronterende rock van La Muerte werd vorig jaar met een knal terug op de kaart gezet door een vlammende comeback show in de Brusselse AB en de daar opgenomen dubbele live lp ‘Evil’. De groep heeft de smaak opnieuw te pakken en brengt nu met ‘Murder Machine’ (Mottow Soundz – met download code) nieuw studiowerk uit op een 12†transparante of rode vinyl ep met drie nummers die werden geperst op één kant. Op de B-kant heerst dus de eeuwige stilte, maar dat kan niet worden gezegd van de bruisende A-kant die losbarst met het bezwerende ‘Whark This Guy’. ‘Je suis Le Destructeur’ klinkt vervolgens al even dreigend en donker, maar de groep slaagt er in om de nummers te voorzien van een meeslepende groove die zelfs de meer traditionele rockfan over de streep haalt. ‘Get Whipped’ sluit af en is meteen ook het langste nummer. Schrapende gitaren, een dreigend ritme en gewrongen vocalen scheppen een doomy sfeer die minutenlang fascinerend doordreunt. La Muerte staat als een huis!
