SUICIDAL TENDENCIES: World Gone Mad

Frontman Mike Muir and guitarist Dean Pleasants have teamed up with three new members: Ra Diaz on bass, Jeff Pogan on guitar and top drummer Dave Lombardo (Slayer, Grip Inc., Dead Cross, John Zorn, ...). They haven’t lost one bit of their eagerness to produce an album that hits you right in the face and with new blood in the band, there’s certainly the freshness and motivation to produce something worthwhile.
This album has the best of both worlds: it sounds honest and authentic on one hand and on the other hand it is an accessible piece of work that should be able to cross-over to a wider metal audience. The eleven songs are full of raging riffs and powerful drumming and have lyrical content that matters. The production was done by Mike Muir in a collaboration with Paul Northfield who earned his reputation by working for artists like Rush, Dream Theater, Queensrÿche, Ozzy Osbourne, Hole and Marilyn Manson. Even if you’re not into their style, you should give it a try!

Frontman Mike Muir en gitarist Dean Pleasants hebben team gevormd met drie nieuwe leden: Ra Diaz op bas, Jeff Pogan op gitaar en topdrummer Dave Lombardo (Slayer, Grip Inc., Dead Cross, John Zorn, …). De band heeft niets verloren van zijn gedrevenheid om een plaat te maken die je recht in het gezicht raakt en met nieuw bloed in de band was er zeker ook de motivatie om een sterk album te maken.
Deze plaat verenigt het beste van twee werelden: enerzijds klinkt ze eerlijk en authentiek en anderzijds is het ook een toegankelijk werkstuk dat de deur moet open zetten naar een breder metal publiek. De elf songs bulken van ziedende riffs en krachtig drumwerk, maar hebben ook een tekstuele inhoud die er toe doet. De productie was in handen van Mike Muir zelf, maar hij liet zich bijstaan door niemand minder dan Paul Northfield die zijn strepen heeft verdiend door zijn werk met Rush, Dream Theater, Ozzy Osbourne, Hole, Marilyn Manson en Queensrÿche. Zelfs al je geen fan bent van hun stijl kun je dit echt wel eens een kans geven.
