English:

After their debut (2011) and ‘Second Sight’ (2013), this American quartet presents their third album with a new bass player and guitarist in the line-up.

‘Book Of The Dead’ opens on a short eerie/sombre soundscape. ‘Slavemaster’ is a sturdy piece of spacerock reminding of the ‘Leviatation’ era of Hawkwind, but contains also an experimental jazzy inspired passage as well as duels between guitar and keyboard. ‘Searching’ adds a psychedelic element and has doomy progrock in its midst. ‘Dweller’ is a quiet psychedelic journey with dreamy vocals, before entering the 27’ minutes long opus ‘As Sure As The Sun’. It evolves from quiet through symphonic experiment towards an eerie patch before they begin heavy virtuoso jam, after which a rather regular structured piece with some singing (mainly instrumental album, by the way), finally followed by a long outro with again slight symphonic touch and acoustic finale.

Very captivating space psych rock!

Nederlands:

Opener ‘Book Of The Dead’ is een kort ijl/somber soundscape.

Erg boeiende space psych rock!
