FALLS OF RAUROS: Vigilance Perennial

Falls Of Rauros happens to be a nebular collective hailing from Portland (US) that releases its fourth studio album with ‘Vigilance Perennial’. It is atmospheric black metal with mostly long songs in which the echoing screams cleave through the icy mountain sides. Beautiful melodious leads serpentine around us. The region is famous for its Cascadian black metal, with much space for folk influences, slower passages and atmosphere. You have to be in the right mood; then fans of Wolves In The Throne Room, Agalloch or Panopticon might find another band in Falls Of Rauros that appeal to them. The genre is close to our hearts, but we have heard better bands in this genre.

Falls Of Rauros is een in nevelen gehuld gezelschap uit Portland (VS) dat met ‘Vigilance Perennial’ toe is aan het vierde studioalbum. Atmosferische black metal met overwegend lange songs waarin de galmende screams echoën tegen de flanken van ijselijke bergketens. Mooie melodieuze leads cirkelen rondom ons. De streek is bekend om haar Cascadian black metal, met veel ruimte voor folk invloeden, tragere passages en sfeer. Je moet er voor in de stemming zijn, dan kunnen fans van Wolves In The Throne Room, Agalloch en Panopticon hier misschien eveneens hun gading in vinden. Het genre ligt ons nauw aan het hart, maar we hebben al betere bands in dit genre gehoord.
