In 1994 this Swedish bunch recorded their debut ‘Burial Dimensions’, only to be released in 2016. In the meantime several members had gained experience in others bands, e.g. Defleshed, where Heval and Matte were active. On this sophomore effort they stay true to their melodic old school death metal, pretty brutal with fast raw passages and rather melodic.

‘Bloodsoaked’ opens with chopping drums, Heval’s raw grunt and nice guitar solo. ‘Crimson Fog’ intertwines a nice melodic riff through the fast, sometimes hectic violence, again with a relatively quiet break in which the guitar can do its thing. Melancholic, acoustic guitar opens ‘Embodiment’, which continues rather slow plodding. Then comes ‘Scars’, short and blasting, while ‘Awakening’ harbours the nicest melody. ‘Silent Waves’ is comparable to the raw opener, but with a longer solo. ‘Black Veil’ opens acoustically as well, transits through rain and chimes into slow death, while the grunt sounds much deeper (think early My Dying Bride), followed by a short acoustic spell and before continuing sombre epic plodding. ‘Dawn’ closes faster with a whiff of thrash in the death.

Damned good raw platter!

Verdomd goeie rauwe schijf!
