‘Gaea Hypothesis’ happens to be the euphonious sounding debut album from the Italian trio Storm Of Particles, founded in 2015. Their melodic death metal is fervently relished with constant leads of Matteo Anselmi, who is also responsible for the rough death growls. The album kicks off with the atmospheric sounds of ‘Polarity’, one can consider it an intro.
The next eight songs have a melancholic tinge, yet executed with energetic fervency. Since the sparkling death metal appears to be regaled with doom overtones, these Italians remind us a bit of Insomnium and Wolfheart from time to time. Quiescent passages with whispering voice always pass into powerful, yet fluent outbursts in which the juicy death growls of Matteo are featured. His guitar skills have a charming personal touch, that’s why the band already has a signature own sound on this debut. Really promising and agreeable stuff to listen to!

‘Gaea Hypothesis’ is het welluidende debuutalbum van het Italiaanse trio Storm Of Particles, ontstaan in 2015. De melodieuze death metal wordt vinnig verfraaid met constant solowerk van Matteo Anselmi, die ook de ruwe death grom hanteert. Het album vangt aan met de sfeervolle klanken van ‘Polarity’ dat we als intro kunnen beschouwen.
De acht volgende songs zijn weemoedig van inborst edoch vurig uitgevoerd. Aangezien de sprankelende death voorzien wordt van een doomsausje, doen de Italianen nog het meest denken aan Finse bands als Insomnium en Wolfheart. Rustige passages met fluisterstem leiden telkens naar krachtige, maar vloeiende uitbarstingen waarin de sappige death grom van Matteo het voortouw neemt. Zijn gitaarspel heeft een persoonlijke toets welke de band reeds op dit debuut een eigen geluid geeft. Veelbelovend en aangenaam luistervoer!
