W.E.T. is built around the talents of Robert Sall (Work Of Art), Erik Martenssson (Eclipse) and Jeff Scott Soto (Talisman). This ‘Eartrage’ is their third album so far.

Opener ‘Watch The Fire’ made me think of early Foreigner, hard rocking melody with Jeff’s strong voice and backings vocals galore. After ‘Burn’, with some fine guitar soloing, comes ’Kings’, a sturdy track with a fine vocal delivery and chorus which fades out acoustically. Then we get a fine ballad in ‘Wasted’, followed by ‘Urgent’ with heavy riff, a vague Foreigner memory and great guitar work. After a long quiet intro, ‘Dangerous’ bursts out in heavy AOR/HR, then ‘Calling’ opens rather dark with alternating calm and sturdier patches plus great chorus and ditto solo. Piano gets the ballad ‘Heart’ going, further illuminated by some tranquil guitar. ‘Game’ is another fine song again, but it lacks something to be great. ‘Pain Of Love’ is a power ballad with minimalistic break, while ‘Dream’ closes the album sparkling in heavy AOR/HR style.

Without any doubt a great album, but some songs could use a little sparkle to make them memorable.
