INDIE RECORDINGS ANNOUNCE SIGNING OF SAHG Indie Recordings are extremely happy to add this wide-legged, sweaty class act to our roster. They bring along a new sound to our label – carrying on the legacy of the 1970’s legendary hard rock bands in an outstanding way. We can’t wait to help this band claim their rightfully deserved place in the scene!
Background; After many years of involvement on different ends of the Norwegian rock and metal scene, four hard rock devotees teamed up under the name Sahg late summer of 2004. The members had gained long and wide experience from bands like Gorgoroth, Audrey Horne, Manngard and I.
Sahg's debut album, 'Sahg I', was released in April, 2006, and was praised by critics in the international metal press. The band took to the stage in both the great Norwegian metal festivals Inferno and Hole in the Sky, as well as doing an extensive tour of North-America as support for Swiss legends Celtic Frost. Throughout 2007, Sahg focused on creating their second album, and took on Wacken Open Air Festival in Germany with fire and lightning in August the same year. Upon the dawning of 2008, 'Sahg II' was released, and the band was once again praised for its musical efforts. 'Sahg II' was mixed by Anthrax guitarist Rob Caggiano. Shortly after the release, Sahg headed out on a European tour supporting US doom legends Trouble, and in October the band travelled to India, performing at five open air festivals throughout the country.
Sahg is currently working on their third album, and release is planned for October 2009. Live appearances are confirmed on several festivals during the spring and summer of 2009. Indie Recordings welcomes Sahg to the family!
Vocalist/guitarist Olav Iversen comments on the signing: "The best thing about Indie is that they are passionate about what they do. They really care more about the music than the money, unlike most others in this business. That was crucial for our decision. Indie has been in close relation to Sahg and given very valuable support since day one. So signing with Indie Recordings seems like the most natural thing in the universe. Indie made a very good effort handling distribution and promotion for both our previous albums in Norway. And they have always been very supportive towards where we have been going musically. Being based in the same country, we have at times had a closer connection to Indie than to our previous label, Sweden-based Regain Records. We want to work with a record company that is genuinely interested in what we do, and we believe that Indie Recordings is such a record company. We believe this is the right place for Sahg to develop further and keep on expressing what we want musically." KILLSWITCH ENGAGE ANNOUNCE KILLSWITCH ENGAGE AS TITLE OF FOURTH ALBUM FOR ROADRUNNER
New York, NY: Massachusetts' finest hard rock purveyors, Killswitch Engage, have announced the title for their eagerly anticipated fourth album for Roadrunner Records. The title is Killswitch Engage. The album, produced by Brendan O'Brien (AC/DC, Rage Against the Machine) and co-produced by guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz, will hit stores in the Benelux on June 26.
Some of the track titles for the album include "The Reckoning," "The Forgotten" and "Starting Over." Vocalist Howard Jones offered a little insight into Killswitch Engage, saying, “It was time for us to step outside of our comfort zone and try something a little different with this record. It definitely still sounds like us, but we needed to be refreshed and take things a little further." The singer also comments on the album being the band's second self-titled effort of its career, saying "When we all couldn’t agree on an album title, someone suggested we just keep it self-titled and we all pretty much agreed. It gives it the feeling of a fresh new beginning."
Killswitch Engage have been playing a brand new, currently untitled song during their set on the Music As A Weapon Tour (USA), where they are serving as main support to Disturbed. The band also performed the song as the opening act of the first annual Revolver Golden Gods Awards, which were held on Tuesday, April 7 in Los Angeles. The song, sandwiched between "My Curse" and the band's uniquely Killswitch'ed cover of Dio's classic anthem "Holy Diver," generated plenty of excitement among the crowd and set the tone for the show.
The band will spend the summer touring as a main stage attraction on the second annual Rockstar Energy Mayhem Fest (USA). Jones also commented on the upcoming tour, saying, "We are excited and thrilled to share the stage this summer with Bullet For My Valentine, Slayer and Marilyn Manson. We hope to entertain and enjoy our time interacting with both old friends and new friends daily. Prepare yourself for laughs, riffs and the unexpected. We will do all we can to make you move, yell and ponder who made the mistake of letting us onstage. You have been warned. Oh, and watch new episodes of The Office."
Indie Recordings is proud to announce the signing of SOLEFALD
The Norwegian avant-garde act was formed by Lars Are "Lazare" Nedland and Cornelius Jakhelln in August 1995. Lazare on vocals, keyboard/synthesizer/piano and drums, and Cornelius on vocals, guitar and bass. After 6 albums, they are now ready to release their 7th album through Indie Recordings. Date yet to be announced. Already from the get go in 1995, it was already quite evident that the band had an experimental edge, incorporating Lazare's choir like clean vocals and lush piano passages into the heavy and intense black metal formula. Solefald is a rare breed of band that is able to successfully fuse two opposing feelings of music; beauty and ambiance, as well as intensity and rage. Indie Recordings is very happy to have the excellence of Solefald in our family.
Cornelius Jakhelln comments on the signing and the upcoming album: "Solefald are proud to announce that we have inked a record deal with Indie Recordings. After over a decade in harbors overseas, returning to our new home in Oslo definitely feels good. As the distributor of our Icelandic Odyssey, Indie Recordings, delivered astonishing results in the Norwegian market, both sales- and promotion wise. Thus, we are confident that Solefald will receive the best possible treatment. As the fanatics among you know already, a new Solefald album is in the making and will be launched in 2009. The album is more guitar-based than previously, and contains several songs in Norwegian. We won't reveal too much about the contents yet, only that we look forward to return with a scream and a bang (which was the technique we deployed to mask certain deficiencies on our "Jernlov" demo, lol)!" NEW MIND KEY ALBUM OUT ON THE 3RD JULY!! MIND KEY
Frontiers Records announces the return of the Italian Prog Metal hopes MIND KEY with the release of the band’s second studio album entitled “Pulse for a Graveheart” on July 3rd in Europe, August 11th in the USA with a Japanese release to follow on King Records.
Mind Key debuted in 2004 with Journey Of A Rough Diamond, an album that showed the excellent potential of the Neapolitan combo. With a colourful sound, akin to Prog Metal giants such as Dream Theater, Symphony X, Evergrey and Pain of Salvation Mind Key’s music also leaned towards a more mature and song oriented approach inspired by 80/90’s Hard Rock. Right before the release of the album the original singer Mark Basile left the group and in preparation of the tour dates, the guys met for the first time Aurelio Fierro Jr. a singer with a vast experience especially in theatres. He was able to give some splendid performances especially in the gigs that the band landed as support of Dream Theater for the Italian “Train Of Thought Tour 2004”. Mike Portnoy said: “These guys sound really excellent!”
Mind Key played then more live dates in support of Vision Divine and Pendragon and also appeared at the Progpower Europe Festival with shows in Poland, Switzerland, Holland, Germany and France. During the Polish dates, a Live DVD was recorded “Habemus Poland”, with Giorgio Adamo as frontman. However he soon left to make space for the return of Aurelio Fierro. Founding member and keyboardist Dario De Cicco explains: “We decided to go for Aurelio at the end of the songwriting sessions. Note after note, chord after chord we realized that the songs begged for Aurelio’s voice and it seemed almost a necessary decision to make. I think we did the right choice as only with his astonishing performances we were able to reach what we really wanted from the new material”.
The band began the recording of the second album “Pulse for a Graveheart”, simplifying their songwriting and giving the chance to Fierro to showcase his immense vocal potential which can be described as a powerful mix of Ronnie James Dio, David Coverdale and Jorn Lande. The album was later mixed and mastered by none other than Dennis Ward (Pink Cream 69, Angra, Krokus, Place Vendome etc.) to ensure the best sounding quality. According to guitarist Emanuele Colella “We knew from the beginning that Dennis was the right choice! Since the first communication together a perfect synergy was built. He could understand our need and desire to combine a modern melodic metal sound with our progressive roots and an heavier edge. He could totally deliver what we and the music needed, he’s just great”.
“Pulse for a Graveheart” also features some amazing guest musicians appearing such as Derek Sherinian (Dream Theater, Alice Cooper), who plays a keyboard solo on “Citizen of Greed”, Reb Beach (Whitesnake, Winger) on “Now Until Forever” and Tom Englund from Evergrey, dueting with Elio Fierro on “Graveheart”. Mind Key’s line-up now includes: Aurelio Fierro on vocals, Emanuele Colella on guitars, Dario De Cicco on keyboards and Andrea Stipa on drums.
“Pulse for a Graveheart” introduces to the fans a completely re-designed band, with a mature attitude and astonishing songwriting. “I hope the new record will give Mind Key the chance to get rid of the label of «prog metal band in the style of....» and bring us to a different status. We aim to be a Metal band - still staying true to our diverse influences ranging from progressive to hard and melodic rock – but with a personal and trademark sound” concludes Andrea Stipa. Get ready for one the Prog Metal revelations of 2009!

ATREYU BEGIN WORKING ON FOLLOW-UP TO LEAD SAILS PAPER ANCHOR BAND ENTERS LOS ANGELES STUDIO WITH PRODUCER BOB MARLETTE
Los Angeles, CA – Orange County quintet ATREYU has entered Henson Studios in Los Angeles with producer Bob Marlette (Saliva, Seether, Ozzy) to begin work on the highly anticipated follow-up to 2007’s LEAD SAILS PAPER ANCHOR. “We started as a heavy hardcore band,” says lead vocalist Alex Varkatzas, “and I think we’ve gotten away from that in recent years. The last record, for example, showcased us as a rock band with heavy parts. With this record, we want to return to our roots while also continuing to move forward. It’s about finding the right balance between the two.” “This album will scream as a statement of where we’ve been, what we’ve become and where we will go,” adds drummer/vocalist Brandon Saller. “We think this record will be a huge marker in the life of Atreyu and we can’t wait to unveil it.” According to Varkatzas, the band has demo’d 30 songs and plan to narrow it down to 16, with the goal being to finish recording by June. “The songs definitely have a dark, heavier feel and I think the current climate has a lot to do with that,” says the vocalist. “Personally, I just feel…angry and it’s coming out in the music. Failed bailouts, unemployment on the rise, troops still in Iraq—I watch all this stuff on the news and it carries over to the sessions. It gets me fired up.” After initial drum sessions at Henson, the band and Marlette will move production to the producer’s Blue Room Studios in the San Fernando Valley. “I was anxious to work with these guys,” says Marlette. “They’re a great slamming live band with amazing power and a great signature sound. This is going to be a helluva record.” LEAD SAILS PAPER ANCHOR debuted at No. 8 on Billboard’s Top 200, making it both the highest debut and highest-charting album of the band’s career. It followed 2006’s A Death-Grip On Yesterday, which entered the chart at No. 9. The album, which was produced by John Feldmann (The Used, Good Charlotte) and mixed by Andy Wallace (Nirvana, Slipknot, Linkin Park), drew rave reviews from media outlets around the world, including Metal Hammer, who declared it to be “a truly landmark album.” Kerrang! gave the record 4 K’s and Blender gave it 3 ½ stars and called it “metal that takes you to a magical bygone era.” Revolver awarded the album 4 stars and praised it for flowing “beautifully through the speakers” and for being “a coffin-tight collection of singles.” Touring in support of the album, the band shared stages alongside Korn and Evanescence on the Family Values Tour, blazed a headlining run of their own, co-headlined the Taste of Chaos Tour, then tore up stages as part of Linkin Park’s Projekt Revolution tour.
